Suggested In-Class Activities for Faculty

Page history last edited by rommel 1 yr ago
Our Focus The Nation event at Towson University has been structured to provide maximum flexibility for faculty and students, but still provide an opportunity for discussion and interaction. There are several ways faculty can involve their classes and participate in this activity.

1) Engage students in your classes on either January 30, 2008 or January 31, 2008 in discussion, wether it be for 10 minutes or the entire class period, about global warming/climate change and how it might (a) affect them personally (b) impact your discipline and (c) engage them in developing potential long term and short term solutions. The solutions should be posted to this Wiki site

2) Have students review books or web resources on global warming/climate change, and have them develop and post potential long term and short-term solutions to global warming/climate change to this Wiki site by January 31, 2008.

 3) Bring your class to the University Union to attend the talks (Symposium Presentations; Q&A) which are focused on global warming/climate change or give students extra credit for attending these talks which will be held in the Potomac Lounge in the University Union from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Students who go to the symposium will receive a signed card verifying their attendance, which they can give to you. Snacks will be provided.

4) Encourage your students to attend one of the movie presentation viewings of “The End of Suburbia” and “An Inconvenient Truth” which will be showing in PAWS during the day (Click for Showtimes).

5) Come to and encourage everyone to join in the "Conversation" with members of the University Administration about how we as individuals, as an educational community, and as members of the regional community can address this challenge. Location: Potomac Lounge, University Union; 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Snacks will be provided.
